Email client settings

If you are a Netuxo email user and you want to use an email client such as Thunderbird, Outlook or Kmail to download/read your mail, then here are the essential details you will need to configure the client.

Pop to download mail or imap to read mail?

Using pop will connect to the Netuxo mailserver and download your mail to your local computer, removing it from the mailserver. Thus once downloaded you cannot, for example, see the messages using webmail (which reads from the mailserver) as it has already been downloaded.

Using imap will enable you to read mail but will not download it. This means that you can use several clients (eg Thunderbird on your local computer and Outlook on your mobile device) to connect to the Netuso mailserver and read the mail. This will not download your mail - it will always be there and you can create remote directory structures to organise it. The only downside to this is that by not downloading your mail your mailbox will grow and grow and unless you are organised and remove messages you do not want to keep, delete attachments etc periodically, you will (eventually) run out of space.

The settings for both pop and imap are very similar, just take the following steps. We are using Thunderbird as the example client, but they are all fairly similar.

Create a new account

Enter the name of the mailbox

Choose whether you want to download (pop) or read (imap) your messages. In either case the incoming server details will always be mail.yourdomain.whatever (eg mail.netuxo.com).

Here you need the mailbox name again. Note that you do not need the full address, just the first part. For example, simply support rather than support@netuxo.co.uk.

Outgoing mail (SMTP) settings are always the same as incoming. So mail.yourdomain.whatever eg mail.netuxo.com) will do just fine. User name should be the short name as in the previous step. You can use TLS if available.
